This year's Storm Football team is about to take the field and they are coming back stronger than ever. The Bolt decided to sit down and interview Head Coach, Mr. Lee, and Assistant Coach, Mr. Spath, about their thoughts on this year's football team.
When asked, “How do you think this season is going to play out?” Coach Lee told me, “I think this will be a winning season for us. I am hoping we compete for the conference championship and make it back to post-season football.” Then, Coach Spath said, “I am very optimistic on our team. I believe that Cerro Gordo is going to be a good measurement of how far our team has come. I know that there are going to be ups and downs throughout the season, but I have a lot of faith in our players and coaching staff.” Sounds promising, coaches!
Our next question for the both of them was “What kinds of things would you like to improve upon this year?” Coach Lee said, “I want to have a better defense. In order for us to win more games, we need to spend less time on defense and keep other teams from scoring.” When we asked Coach Spath the same question, he told us, “We can only win through togetherness! I think in the past we have had good teams, but this year we seem to have a lot of talented athletes. If everyone is on the same page the entire season we will be pretty exciting to watch.”
We then asked Head Coach Lee, “Who stood out during this year's summer camp?” He had to think about it for a while but said, “Since summer camp and the season has started, Skyler Manion has made a lot of progress as has one of the Tri-City boys, Kaiser Ater.” Way to go boys! Keep up the good work.
Finally, we asked Coach Spath why he decided to be the assistant coach here at SV. He answered, “Getting to work with students outside of the classroom and being on a great coaching staff that is extremely supportive made me want to coach here.” Thank you Mr. Spath for all you have done for the football team and the school, we all appreciate it.
Come out and support your football team at our home games which are, August 30th, September 20th, October 4th (which is our homecoming game), and October 25th (senior night). Wear your blue's and grey's and come on out to cheer for your team!
