The boys soccer team has been working hard to start the year off, with a current record of 4-4-1, this year has been a much different story from previous years.
With Co-Captains Jesse Hamilton and Ian Young leading the team, this team's leadership has really been able to organize everyone on the field to work as a team.
Sangamon Valley has been Co-oping with Meridian for three years now, and that requires complete strangers to meet and practice together as one team. No meeting during advisory. No meeting before school to talk about plans on game day. It's safe to say that when you co-op with another school, you have to work as a team.
This team shows a great amount of teamwork and sportsmanship on the field and off. The team really trust each other and play to their strengths and not their weaknesses. “So far we are doing decent and the team has a lot more subs, so all the starters for varsity can get a break if we are doing good and it helps us win games just for having a huge number of subs.” said Co-Captain Jesse Hamilton.
One thing is for sure, these player's passion for the sport is evidence with every kick and sprint down the field. When they go out on the field, they own it. Win or lose, they give it their all and have fun doing it.
