As the new school year is starting up, so are the activities. The fall play is no exception. This year's play is “12 Angry Jurors”. With several familiar faces and a big group of seniors returning for another year, the show is sure to wow.
We sat down with drama director Mrs. Moore for a sneak peek into this year's production. Mrs. Moore said: “This year's play is about a murder trial. We have a 19 year old boy who is on trial for murder and there are 12 jurors who have to decide whether or not he should get the electric chair or be let off.” When asked where she got the inspiration she said, “There is a movie out called, ‘12 Angry Men’ from 1957.” “The play has been done many times at several different schools. It’s a very dramatic show. They now have it to where you can get a script for both the ‘12 Angry Men’ and ‘12 Angry Women’ and that's what we’re doing. So you combine the 2 so that we can have both guys and girls who play the jurors in it.”
Third-year drama participant Sierra Centola has very high hopes for this year’s production. “This year's play, I think it is going to be a very different play, but I think that it will be good for all of the actors in it. Everything we have done before was either comedy or a story. This one is still a story, but its very dark and very serious. I hope that it is just a fun year, especially for my senior year. I hope everybody enjoys it, everybody gets along, and that we just have a smooth ride this year.”
One person who everyone is excited to see is senior, Will Bryan. “‘12 Angry Men’ is one of my favorite movies, so I'm really excited to get the chance to act in the play. It's a "bottle movie," a movie (in this instance a play) where roughly the entire thing takes place in one room, so it's a nice change in pace from last year's Peter Pan, which had us flying around Neverland.”
Overall, both the seniors and Mrs. Moore have very high hopes for this year's play. This year's fall play is definitely an event you will not want to miss.
